The new Miss Universe Uruguay 2010 is Stephany Ortega, 20, of Montevideo. She won the title late Saturday night in a glittering ceremony at the Conrad Hilton in Punta del Este. Eliana Olivera, 22, was first runner-up, winning the title of Miss World Uruguay 2010. Rounding out the top five were Evangelina Lechini, Natalia Yoffe, and Rocío Da Silva. 
Madge, the Cafeteria Lady, cooked up this stack of buttermilk pancakes for a hungry Beauty School student. In honor of our international student body, the Beauty School cafeteria will be serving Swedish pancakes and Argentine panqueques con dulce de leche all day today. And of course, only made-in-Vermont maple syrup will be available to put on your pancakes, in honor of Miss USA 1955 and Miss Teen USA 1993. Miss America 2010, Caressa Cameron of Virginia, will flip pancakes at the local IHOP.

Yes, there is almost complete unanimity among the Beauty School faculty and staff - from Dean Harris and Prof. Chandni, of course, but also from Beloved Libraian Lorraine, Prof. Scribner, Hedda Hunter, etc. - that it is difficult to be modest when you are Brazilian. Beauty School Security Guard/Body Guard Boris disagrees. He is lobbying hard to have Miss Universe 2010 in Croatia. Meanwhile, Beauty School Brazilian exchange student Eduardo Pires (and Mister Pará 2008) is lobbying hard to have Miss Universe 2010 in Brazil.
Eduardo is an expert practitioner of capoeira. He said he will go all ju-jitsu on the Miss Universe Organization if they don't pick Brazil as the sede for Miss Universe 2010.

At Mister Luxembourg 2009Beloved Beauty School Librarian, Lorraine, who is also an expert hair and makeup artist/advisor, took all of the pix posted here. The reason why Beauty School's Library is closed all the time is that Lorraine is always invited to these contests - she provides her services pro bono, so she is very much in demand, even if she tends to give the women contestants a bouffant and she tends to pinch the butts of the men contestants (Lorraine says that you can bounce a dime off of Mister Luxembourg 2009's butt!).
On the movie set with Bollywood star and Miss Universe 1994, Sushmita Sen. Lorraine is holding Sush's makeup mirror. Lorraine travels frequently to Bollywood to do Sush's and Ash's hair and makeup. 
Damaging the ozone layer at Miss Arab 2009. Lorraine's hair and makeup services are ecumenical in nature. "Well, the Hindus say 'There is more than one path to God,' and I say, "There is more than one path to good hair and makeup," states Lorraine about her inter-faith services, but "all paths do require the use of hairspray." 
At Thailand's Jumbo Queen 2009 contest. Lorraine's contract with the Jumbo Queen pageant stipulates that Lorraine cannot ever appear in the same photo with the Jumbo Queen or Jumbo Queen contestants.
The new Mister Spain 2009, Guillermo Garcia, gets a touch up, from one of Lorraine's gay Spanish buddies. You can't see her, but Lorraine is standing behind Guillermo, pinching his cute butt. 
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! Marcus Raphael, Mister Brasil Tur 2009, wishes all Beauty School students and staff Brazilian kisses all over! Marcus, 23 and 1m90, will be taking more kisses from noon to 2:00pm today at Cafe Zulu. Dean Harris will give the first kiss, of course! "XXOO," says Dean Harris to Marcus!
